Christmas Entertainment Package coming up in May!
This May, the festive Christmas entertainment packages will be revealed. Whether planning for a festive fuelled networking lunch, company Christmas party or seasonal celebration, InterContinental Sanctuary Cove offers you the perfect package to create a memorable celebration. Stay tuned for more details.
As part of the Hunter Valley Wine and Food Festival, conference guests at Crowne Plaza Hunter Valley and several other properties, will be offered a new and complimentary experience, Burning of the Vines.
Delegates will take part in the ancient harvest ritual to symbolically burn disappointments of the previous financial year and ignite goals for the next. On arrival to their room delegates will receive a vine cutting and a card to write what they want to turn their back on from the previous year and what aspirations they have for the year ahead. They then farewell the old by throwing it into a fire pit or bonfire, and toast to the new.
The tradition originates from the European vineyards and celebrates the end of the grape harvest and the start of the new season's budburst, with grapevine cuttings burnt in huge bonfires to symbolise rebirth.

The National Convention Centre (NCC) has almost completed stage one of our aesthetic improvement. The works began last year and have been planned in stages, so it’s ‘business as usual’ at the Centre while work is underway. Future bookings are being made and major conferences and concerts being held, with work rolling out without client disruption.
Stephen Wood, Manager NCC, says several local suppliers, large and small, have been used to ensure the project generates economic benefits here in the city. ‘It’s important for us to be more than just “present” in the community,’ says Stephen. ‘We don’t exist in isolation. We’re part of Canberra and are active in the community through strong, local partnerships.’
The work is more than just cosmetic. It’s a serious effort to ensure we continue to attract major national and international business events into Canberra, and the timing is perfect with international flights linking our National Capital with Singapore and New Zealand beginning in September.
The addition of international flights indicates how Canberra has developed over the past few years. The Canberra Airport is a first-class facility that has undergone the biggest transformation in its history, with the construction of a new terminal and supporting infrastructure to ensure functionality for both national and international flights.
The growth in the city doesn’t stop with the award winning airport. New precincts such as New Acton, Braddon and the Kingston Foreshore are abundant with fantastic restaurants, bars, cafes, shopping and international award winning coffee, there is so much to see and do.
As the national capital, Canberra has a fast growing reputation for being one of the nation’s most vibrant and innovative meeting places. You will find access to decision makers from the public and private sectors and it is also home to some of the world’s best-known innovation and research centres which add value to the content of programs.
The NCC has worked closely with Visit Canberra to produce the Canberra Business Event Delegate Boosting Kit to assist with increasing delegate numbers and ensuring the success of business events held in Canberra. The kit showcases the Canberra experience, key precincts, restaurants, cafes and bars, venue options, accommodation, unique team building ideas, and social media tools. The Kit is valuable from the planning stages, through the organisational aspects and of course during the event itself. It will also assist you to integrate information easily into your existing communication channels and promote Canberra’s broader destination experiences. It is a valuable asset for all conferences and business event organisers.
See why the National Convention Centre and Canberra provides so much for conference and event organisers to consider.
