New Event Space: Introducing The Calyx

Introducing The Calyx, the Royal Botanic Garden Sydney’s new, world-class horticultural exhibition space. The first of its kind in Australia, and a legacy of the Garden’s 200th Birthday in 2016, The Calyx plays host to a number of world class exhibitions and is also available for events. The Calyx is designed to be a living art gallery and a theatrical experience that houses living and moving botanic exhibitions that heighten all your senses.

Trippas White Group is the proud and exclusive hospitality partner of The Calyx, providing premium services and event menus exploring Australia’s best and sustainable produce. Event planners can immerse themselves in the greenery of the new venue, while sipping on wine and indulging in food curated to reflect the garden surrounds and exhibitions.

The Calyx is defined as ‘the sepals of a flower, typically forming a whorl that encloses the petals and forms a protective layer around a flower in bud’.
Think of it as both a living art gallery and a theatrical experience that houses ever-changing living botanic exhibitions. The Calyx is a place to inspire and capture imagination, an enchanting and magical experience where plants will take you on a journey of discovery.

The whole space is an integrated mix of indoor and outdoor areas with the exhibition changing dramatically each year, reinventing itself through emotively themed exhibitions changing every nine months.

Construction of the building took just over 11 months and the highest point inside the building is 5.5m!
