1. QUEENSLAND – 2032 Olympics! The Queensland Government has invested $10 million into an assessment plan for the 2032 Olympic Games and Paralympic Games.
2. IRELAND: Ireland’s first permanent alcohol-free bar, The Virgin Mary, has opened in Dublin. Aimed at the growing number of consumers who are eliminating or reducing their alcohol intake, The Virgin Mary has the same look and feel as a regular bar, minus the booze.
3. FIJI: Fiji Airways is continuing its rapid evolution from a South Pacific-focused carrier into one of the best boutique airlines in Asia Pacific.
4. ADELAIDE: Hyatt is set to make its re-entry into Adelaide, with the signing of Hyatt Regency Adelaide. Slated to open in early 2023, the hotel marks the brand’s return to Adelaide after the former Hyatt Regency became an InterContinental hotel in 2009. The new-build hotel will offer 295 rooms, a rooftop bar and 750 square metres of event space in the heart of Adelaide’s CBD.
5. MELBOURNE: Melbourne has landed the largest ever conference for Victoria, with the Rotary International Convention 2023 expected to draw 20,000 visitors to the city. The convention is the most valuable conference ever won for the state, expected to inject more than $88 million into the state’s economy. The Rotary International Convention 2023 will be hosted across two venues: Melbourne Convention and Exhibition Centre and Rod Laver Arena at Melbourne & Olympic Parks.
6. BRISBANE: Brisbane wine lovers are set to be impressed when City Winery opens its doors in Fortitude Valley. To Open in early March, the urban winery is a first for the city and is expected to become a favourite for locals and event planners alike. Owners Adam Penberthy and Dave Cush have transformed the Wandoo Street warehouse, formerly home to Campos Coffee, into a micro-winery under the Gerler Wines label. The main space will operate as a cellar door, winery and barrel room during the day, and wine bar by night.
7. WA: RAC Karri Valley Resort in Western Australia’s has revealed a modern new look following a $5.7 million redevelopment. The refurbishment works were a welcome update for the Beedelup resort, which was established in 1983 as a shared-accommodation lodge.
