Have you ever had to organise an event? We know it usually falls to the EAs and PAs to come up with something unforgettable. We also know that EAs and PAs are sometimes the busiest people within a company and don’t often have the time spare to manage every facet of an event! So let’s share some wisdom to make your next event just that little bit easier.

First up, you need to secure a venue, one that will somehow appeal to all in your company regardless of age or taste. (Our preference is a marquee.) You then have to select the food, beverages, theme, entertainment and transport. Sounds overwhelming? It doesn’t have to be.

Tip 1 – Get some buy-in from your team. Offer a prize for the best suggestion for the Christmas party, the caterers, the location and you will soon find you have a general consensus. Great, the pressure is now off of you.

Tip 2 – Use organisations with local knowledge that can recommend a venue - such as your local tourism authorities. They will trip over themselves to recommend event space to set up your marquee.

Tip 3 – Use a one-stop-shop. Eliminate the stress involved with contracting several different suppliers. By using a single supplier for your event needs, you get the added benefit of having a single contact, single delivery and logistics are made more simple and therefore will ensure your event will run smoothly with minimal fuss.
