Conferencing Under Canvas.
The idea that you can take 100 delegates camping for their annual residential sales conference sounds crazy, but with careful planning, an unforgettable event can be created.
Team building and incentive company Adventure for Life has just delivered a three day conference for a power tools company deep in the Victorian Otway Ranges that included 50 glamping tents, an outdoor cinema, 110 bean bags, product demonstrations, awards night, and even a full service 1975 Silver Airstream Caravan bar.
“We wanted to create an authentic camping experience without compromising on delegate comfort” said Adventure for Life owner Iain Lygo.
Delegates were initially shocked as they arrived onsite, but after inspecting their 5 star tents they embraced the camping spirit.
The huge accommodation tents were decked out with glamorous bedding, fluffy towels, and welcome packs containing company branded beanies, toiletries, torches and other little luxuries.
The campsite had no phone or internet coverage which enhanced the social aspect of the conference. Delegates certainly enjoyed a drink and a chat around one of three fire pits.
Rather than checking emails during down time, delegates played ping pong, kicked footballs, or explored the valley.
Catering company Truffle Duck designed delicious camp-friendly menus that could be enjoyed around the campfire or in bean bags as Mad Max Fury Road was shown on the big screen.
“Site selection was crucial. We wanted a beautiful site with reasonable access for suppliers. We also didn’t want to disturb anyone with power tools demonstrations. The delegates’ digital detox and socializing was a bonus” said Iain Lygo.
