We advised you late last year that we had exciting plans for the EAN Training Academy in 2013, including several new qualifications designed purely for EAs and PAs. However at this stage we wanted to draw your attention to the public course program that has undergone significant amendments with many updated elements as well as some entirely new courses. Happy New Year one and all.
The EAN team are mostly all back on deck and we have a lot happening in the coming months to update and share with you all. First off is our Perth conference and exhibition in early February, then our Sydney conference in March, the commencement of training courses and programs all around the country in February / March, not to mention a very extensive schedule of Networking events that will be held in Brisbane, Canberra, Melbourne, Perth and Sydney over the coming months.
So, here’s to 2013, because it is going to be a very busy year for us and our members!

What a great EOFY membership promotion. Since launching our new Welcome Page and then our annual June promotion we have received close to 400 membership subscriptions. With close to 60 of these being in VIC and more than 25 of them in ACT, we are exceptionally excited to see that our new membership structure for members outside of NSW is resonating so well with those members. As a result, we are exceptionally excited about starting to deliver all new membership benefits commencing in July. Educational videos, articles and new guides are in production as we speak.

Adrenalin / Island Sydney Function Update

We’ve had unprecedented interest in our upcoming function to be held on The Island Sydney as guests of Adrenalin next week with over 200 registrations in under 24 hours.
Unfortunately we are now operating a wait list for this event and due to the overwhelming demand we are only allowing Full Members to join the wait list.
Given the nature of the EA role and those unavoidable last minute work issues that do sometimes arise we do expect some attrition and cancellations between now and the event. Consequently we will be doing everything we possibly can to try and accommodate as many of those Full Members from the wait list as possible who wish to attend.

We are exceptionally pleased to announce that EAN Training Academy, in conjunction with our training partner Leap Frog Education, is now in the position to offer three nationally recognised and accredited courses for all Personal Assistants, Executive Assistants and their companies through Sydney Technical Institute.
Offered initially in NSW we aim to be able to offer these nationally within the next month. The courses are Certificate IV in Business Administration, Certificate IV in Frontline Management (Business Administration) and Diploma of Management (Business Administration). The EAN Expo 2010 kicks off tomorrow at Luna Park. With a record number of exhibitors and record attendance for the congress running alongside the exhibition, we expect this to be a fantastic two day event. Sydney Annual Congress Registrations Update

Our Early Bird period for registration for the 2010 Sydney Annual Congress has now expired. We already have over 100 senior EAs and PAs registered to attend plus many more Personal Assistants and Executive Assistants who have sought an extension to the Early Bird period whilst they get internal approval for their attendance. We can only comfortably accommodate another 45 – 50 attendees on top of this group so if you want to attend please ensure you get your registration in soon.

Today we launched the Second of our vital industry surveys aimed at our gaining a better understanding of the role of EAs and PAs in Australia. 482 EAs or PAs took part in our first survey giving EAN an insight into the amount of Functions, Events and Travel you are responsible for organising within your companies. This Second Survey focuses on the other roles and responsibilities of EAs in the workplace, focus on job satisfaction, scope, remit and the relationship between assistant and executive. So far over 435 EAs and PAs have taken our first survey on Events, Functions & Travel and with numbers still climbing we have decided to delay the launch of our second survey for one week. The results to date from this survey have been exceptionally pleasing and beyond our greatest expectations so we are now going to push to get upwards of 450 people to take the survey. Over the past few months website traffic on the EAN site has grown significantly peaking at a new record high in February and then again in March. We have also witnessed quite amazing growth in membership of the Network over the past few months.

No, not that RSVP! The team just spent a very enjoyable two days hosting a stand at the RSVP08 Expo at the Sydney Convention & Exhibition Centre. This expo showcased over 280 event industry suppliers offering an array of products and services aimed at fulfilling every need of event organisers such as many of you. The hall was buzzing with live entertainment on the Spotlight Stage, food tastings, roving performers and event talks. It was great to be a part of it all and we were very well received, networking for two days straight!

Registrations for the National Congress in May continue to be exceptionally high. Week for week we are at present 100% ahead of the same period last year. Registrations for the National Congress in May have been exceptionally high. So much so that to date we already have more delegates registered than actually attended last year.
Early Bird was scheduled to finish yesterday, however, we have received a number of calls this morning from people who either only received their brochure in the last couple of days or have had verbal approval from their executive to attend but have not had the opportunity to get formal approval through their internal processes.

As previously reported, as of the start of July, full membership of EAN for members in Sydney costs $100 plus GST per year. Associate Membership is provided free of charge, however this provides a reduced range of services.

Changes to Membership Costs and Structure in Sydney for New Members
For over 18 months now, becoming a member of the Executive Assistant Network in Sydney has been free of charge. With the launch of our conference programme and with several new initiatives under development, all of which will provide significant benefits to members but are very labour intensive, and with membership still growing at a rate in excess of 60 new members each month, the administrative burdens being placed upon us are such that we have reluctantly decided it is time to introduce a fee element for full membership but have chosen a rate which is as low as we can maintain - $100 plus GST per annum.
