Experience the Ancient Harvest Tradition
Crowne Plaza Hunter Valley
Crowne Plaza Hunter Valley invites your company and teams to experience the ancient harvest tradition, Burning of the Vines, as part of the Hunter Valley Wine and Food Festival.
As part of the Hunter Valley Wine and Food Festival, conference guests at Crowne Plaza Hunter Valley and several other properties across the Hunter Region, can participate in a new and complimentary experience, Burning of the Vines.
The tradition originates from the European vineyards and celebrates the end of the grape harvest and the start of the new season's budburst, with grapevine cuttings burnt in huge bonfires to symbolise rebirth.
The ritual is a fantastic way for delegates to engage with the traditions and cycles of the vineyards in the Hunter Valley, and help themselves and their companies focus on the financial year ahead in a meaningful way. It also ensures a memorable and rewarding experience for all delegates, one they won’t forget any time soon.
For the first time, delegates will take part in the ancient harvest ritual and ignite goals for the year to come. On arrival to their room delegates will receive a vine cutting and a card to write what they want to turn their back on from the previous year and what aspirations they have for the year ahead. They then farewell the old by throwing it into a fire pit or bonfire, and toast to the new.
